Government Organizations

  • Canadian Heritage (www.pch.gc.ca) is responsible for national policies and programs that promote Canadian content, foster cultural participation, active citizenship and participation in Canada's civic life, and strengthen connections among Canadians.
  • The Canadian Human Rights Commission (www.chrc-ccdp.ca) administers both the Canadian Human Rights Act and has a monitoring and enforcement role under the Employment Equity Act. The Commission ensures that the principles of equal opportunity and non-discrimination are followed in all areas of federal jurisdiction.

  • Status of Women Canada (www.swc-cfc.gc.ca) is the federal government agency which promotes gender equality, and the full participation of women in the economic, social, cultural and political life of the country. SWC focuses its work in three areas: improving women's economic autonomy and well-being, eliminating systemic violence against women and children, and advancing women's human rights.
