The services we offer

Jer’s Vision: Canada’s Youth Diversity Initiative offers programs and services that support and encourage the work of Canadian youth to address discrimination and support diversity in their schools and communities.

Awards

  • The Jeremy Dias Scholarship: an award for youth (high school, college and university) who have worked to address discrimination and promote diversity. (Annual deadline 15 June)

  • CYDI Award: an award for Canadian politicians who have worked to address discrimination and promote diversity. (Annual deadline Sept 1)

  • Youth Role Model of the Year: an award open to exceptional persons who have done exceptional work to address discrimination and promote diversity. (Accepted throughout the year)

Tools

  • Definitions of Discrimination: learn about discrimination in Canada and its impact on Canadians, especially youth. (Launching in May 2007)

  • Ways of Promoting Diversity: instructional guides on how to organize and run diversity-related events and educational programs. (Launching in May 2007)

  • Educational Material: will include diversity related promotional material that can be distributed in your school or community. (Launching in May 2007)

Services

  • Telephone info line: Phone up to get help with organizing and running diversity related events.

  • Youth Speakers Bureau: connects you with leading Canadian experts who have triumphed over discrimination and can speak to your school or community.

Inspiration

  • Jer’s Vision: The Movie: a short film about how Jer’s Vision was started and what we do. (Available for screening in Oct 2007)

  • Diversity: Stories of Canadians: a compilation of stories about the experiences of Canadians who have triumphed over discrimination. (The Books launch is to be determined)

  • Dream Quilt: The quilt is a symbolic piece of how we want our world to be. We invite you to create a panel of this new piece of history.
