Outreach & Engagement Workshops
Outreach & Engagement Workshops bring trained university students into
the classroom to educate youth about diversity issues through dynamic and
engaging presentations. The presentations seek to give a human face to diversity
and share real life experiences.
Current and developing topics include:
GRIS Presentation: Demystifying and humanizing sexual diversity
Ideal for Physical Education and Health courses
This presentation facilitates youth to explore gay and lesbian issues,
through trained facilitator who share their experiences. The program seeks
to break down stereotypes and myths surrounding the queer community.
A Walk Through the Camp: The human experience of the Holocaust
Ideal for History, Politics and Social Science courses
This presentation is facilitated by youth who have visited Germany
and Poland. The facilitators share their experience of visiting Holocaust
sites, and re-tell stories from real Holocaust survivors.
FEM 101: Introduction to Women’s Studies
Ideal for Family Studies and Home Economics courses
This presentation is facilitated by Women’s Study Majors, who
talk about the 3 waves of Feminism in Canada, major battles women faced,
and current challenges to real equality.
