Dare to Stand Out: A National Hepatitis C Forum
Jer’s Vision, in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada, is proud to present Dare to Stand Out: A National Hepatitis C Forum. The purpose of the forum is to address the need for diversifying the preventative messaging available around hepatitis C, as well as how discrimination increases transmission of hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs). Forum participants will walk away with tools and resources to improve their community, address discrimination and promote diversity.
We will be hosting a national forum here in Ottawa to address the issues of hepatitis C and the lack of preventive information available to youth. This is the first time a conference will be held at a national level with the focus of educating youth! We will have four days filled with activities and candid speakers to inform, educate, and much more! We hope to increase the presence of preventive information available out there on hepatitis C prevention for youth. Plus, we will provide youth with tool kits and resources! Youth leaders can use them to inform and inspire their peers and communities with a variety of campaigns!
We need youth leaders from all over Canada to take part in this amazing opportunity! Do you think you have what it takes? We are looking for youth that will be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in December 2012. Only the top 115 applicants will be selected to take part in this amazing opportunity! The forum will take place December 4th to December 7th 2012 in Ottawa, Ontario.
The ideal participants of this forum will be students who have taken a leadership role within their schools and/or communities. In addition, they must demonstrate what efforts they have made to make their schools and/or communities free from discrimination of any kind. Those who work within their secondary school or community to address homophobia/heterosexism, transphobia, multiculturalism, HIV, and/or hepatitis C will be given special consideration.
